### Job overview

The Inpatient Therapy teams at Ipswich Hospital are looking to recruit a General Therapy Assistant Practitioner (Band 4) to manage the Equipment Service at Ipswich Hospital and work alongside therapy colleagues to support in-patient therapy services.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be able to diversify into management of our Equipment service which is an integral part of our therapy service provision, developing your skills and knowledge under the supervision of qualified therapists.

Working closely with our Trauma and Orthopaedic therapy team, you will receive regular in service training opportunities and be offered regular 1:1 supervision and Performance Development Reviews.

This opportunity is for 1 year fixed term, working 0.8 WTE. The preferred working pattern will be offered at either of the below:  30 hrs - 0900 – 1530 (30 mins lunch) 5 days a week 30 hrs – 08:30 – 15:00 (30 mins lunch) 5 days a week

We’re looking for a self-starting, organised and motivated individual with a strong team work ethic to join our vibrant therapy service. UK Driving licence is essential.

### Main duties of the job

- To  oversee and coordinate the delivery, distribution and monitoring of stock in the designated equipment sub-stores across the hospital site, in association with the Central Equipment Store.
- To provide equipment for Integrated Therapies teams from the main satellite store.
- To support in the induction of new starters to the therapy department through education on equipment store processes.
- Under the guidance of a registered therapist (and following training), complete simple access visits to patients homes, completing visit reports and feeding back to the registered staff member on visit outcomes.
- As required, to support the registered workforce with planning, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of agreed interventions following guidelines and protocols to promote the functional fitness of patients to aid discharge from hospital in a way that is consistent with their abilities, preferences and cultural beliefs.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Good written and verbal communication skills

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Ability to work on own initiative without direct supervision
- Able to maintain clinical records and complete basic reports.
- Ability to provide and receive complex and sensitive information
- Knowledge of basic medical conditions and Understanding the impact of illness and disability on individuals/families
- Knowledge of roles of the MDT
- Understanding of the role and application of occupational therapy and physiotherapy

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of various agencies and services available across Health and Social care organisations
- Knowledge of Discharge to assess models
- Knowledge of progression of goals and treatment plans

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience as a Therapy assistant or experience at a similar level in a related field of health care / health and fitness / social care sector
- Demonstrable experience of delivering tailored personal care
- Completion of Integrated Therapies assistant core and/or specific competencies or equivalent
- Experience of rehab and reablement of patients of patients

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of community resources and whole systems/ pathways approach to care

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Can demonstrate intermediate level of theoretical knowledge and clinical reasoning skills acquired through coursework, in-house training and experience to NVQ Level 3 level or equivalent
