An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Practitioner with an Extended Role (GPwER) in Symptomatic Breast Assessment to join the Oxford University Hospitals Breast Service on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

The postholder will support the delivery of symptomatic and Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) breast services, providing specialist assessment and management of patients within consultant-led pathways. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, the GPwER will contribute to one-stop breast clinics and triple assessment services, helping to improve patient access, support delivery of the 28-Day Faster Diagnosis Standard and enhance pathway efficiency.

Working closely with Consultant Breast Surgeons, Radiologists, Breast Care Nurses and administrative teams, the successful candidate will assess, investigate and manage patients presenting with benign and symptomatic breast conditions, supporting timely diagnosis and high-quality patient-centred care.

This post forms part of an ongoing service improvement programme to increase weekday breast clinic capacity, reduce reliance on premium-cost weekend insourced activity and support a sustainable workforce model. The successful candidate will be a GMC-registered General Practitioner with relevant experience in breast disease, excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care within a multidisciplinary breast service.

### Main duties of the job

The postholder will work as part of the Oxford University Hospitals Breast Service, providing specialist assessment and management of patients attending symptomatic breast and Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) clinics within agreed consultant-led pathways.

The role will support the delivery of one-stop breast and triple assessment clinics, helping to improve patient access, contribute to achievement of the 28-Day Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) and increase capacity within the core weekday service.

Working closely with Consultant Breast Surgeons, Breast Radiologists, Breast Care Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team, the postholder will assess patients with breast symptoms, formulate management plans, arrange appropriate investigations and referrals, and communicate clinical outcomes effectively to patients and healthcare professionals.

The postholder will contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities, supporting the ongoing delivery of a high-quality, efficient and patient-centred Breast Service.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Demonstrable experience and interest in breast disease assessment and management.
- Significant post-CCT experience in General Practice.
- Experience of assessing patients presenting with breast symptoms.

**Desirable**

- Postgraduate qualifications relevant to breast disease management.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Fully qualified and registered General Practitioner with current GMC registration and license to practice.

**Desirable**

- - Previous experience working within a Breast Unit or Symptomatic Breast Service.
