Are you a GP with some ENT experience and a desire to take your skills further in a flexible, multi-disciplinary team? We’re looking for motivated GPs to join our ENT colleagues at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) as General Practitioners with an Extended Role (GPwER) in ENT.

This opportunity allows you to continue working in primary care whilst helping shape a more integrated approach to ENT care across our region.

### Main duties of the job

About the role

- Up to 2.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week (1 PA = 4 hours)
- This can be increased per candidate's flexibility e.g. 5PAs
- Outpatient clinics (typically two per week)
- Referral triage and Advice & Guidance
- Primary care education, clinical supervision and liaison with LMCs
- Participation in ENT clinical governance and up to 0.5 SPA for development

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust has comprehensive facilities for the diagnosis, care and treatment of ENT disease. The successful candidate will be expected to provide ENT services in conjunction with colleagues and will contribute to the development of ENT services as follows:

Clinical

- Assessment and treat patients referred with ENT conditions
- Triaging of referrals received by CHFT as well as providing Advice & Guidance
- Provision of a range of clinical interventions (e.g. micro-suction, flexible nasal endoscopy, audiology, etc.)
- The knowledge to signpost patients to other support services, including local and national patient support groups

Education and Collaborative Responsibilities

- Support and train primary care colleagues in ENT management
- Provide remote support (e.g. telephone/email advice)
- Collaborate with other GPwERs and local ENT teams

Service development

- Help shape integrated ENT pathways across primary and secondary care
- Develop management guidance for common ENT conditions
- Contribute to joint training sessions for GPs, nurses and wider MDT

## Person Specification

### General

**Essential**

- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services provided by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust
- For areas requiring EPP Clearance (Exposure Prone Procedures), this will also be a requirement of the health screening
- An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required with the Disclosure and Barring Service

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Applicants must be Registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practice
- MRCGP or equivalent

**Desirable**

- MRCS ENT or equivalent
- Other higher degree (PhD, Masters)

### Audit and Research

**Essential**

- Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects

### Teaching and Training

**Desirable**

- Training in clinical and educational supervision
- Attendance at a teaching course
- Formal qualification in teaching/education
- Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff.

### Experience and Achievements

**Essential**

- Demonstrate clinical experience and competence in ENT specialty - minimum 6 months ENT experience in a rotational post or equivalent (although please note CHFT offers the opportunity to train successful candidates)

**Desirable**

- Understanding current issues within ENT and the future direction of the specialty
- Understanding current issues within the wider NHS
- Attendance at a recognised management course
- Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions

- Evidence of willingness to participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment to provide an integrated service
