Our Acute Medical Unit (AMU) - Located within the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre - Purpose-built 49-bed inpatient unit - Manages an average of 50 medical admissions per day - Diverse caseload across general and acute medical specialties - 12 substantive consultant acute physicians providing 7-day cover Newly Established Medical Same Day Emergency Care Unit - Located within the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre - Newly established with opportunities for further development Multidisciplinary Team & Training We work closely with a large team of medical staff, including: - Foundation Year doctors (FY1–FY2) - Resident doctors from across a range of training cohorts - Acute Internal Medicine higher specialty trainees - Clinical Fellows - Physician Associates Our structured rota ensures exposure to: - Clerking and procedural work - Ambulatory assessment and outpatient management - Ongoing inpatient care We also benefit from daily in-reach support from renal medicine, cardiology, respiratory, and gastroenterology.
