The post is full-time (40 hours) only please note that this is a banded post working within the nephrology department of UHW.

This role is ideally suited for a post-IMT doctor, who is considering a future career in nephrology or an allied speciality. Full support and guidance will be given for application to the specialist training scheme, with the expectation that the successful candidate will gain a speciality training number by the end of the clinical fellow post.

### Main duties of the job

The work will include ward cover, on-call, dialysis unit and outpatient clinic cover, with full training offered in all renal-specific procedures.

There will be a non-clinical half day per week timetabled, to develop a specific interest associated with a career in nephrology. The Nephrology department cares for approximately 550 patients on haemodialysis, 90 patients on peritoneal dialysis and over 1000 transplant patients. There are approximately 120 transplants per year, including living related and deceased donor(DBD & DCD) programmes, joint pancreatic-renal transplantation and HLA/ABO incompatible transplants. More than 2000 acute haemodialysis sessions a year are performed in the Nephrology and Transplant ward and more than 180 renal biopsies are done each year using ultrasound guidance.
