### Job overview

The post holder will provide a comprehensive medial photography service to Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Trust including across site at Clifton Hospital.  The post holder should be flexible, dynamic and motivated to provide high quality care and information to Blackpool patients in line with departmental requirements.

### Main duties of the job

- Manage own workload on a day-to-day basis to meet the demands of the service.  Make value judgements on the correct photographs to take in any situation, considering customer requirement and a wide range of technical, legal and social issues. Work within the Professional Code of Conduct of the Institute of Medical Illustrators and follow local policies and standard operating procedures. Ensure that the patient and customer is always put first In all issues the patient/customer requirements are met, and all staff contribute to achieving the Trust’s corporate goals and objectives. Assist DMPI in providing a professional, cost effective and efficient Medical Photography service for a broad spectrum of stakeholders across the Trust. The post holder must comply with all relevant policies, procedures and training on infection control.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- Undertake all aspects of clinical photography including (but not exclusively): a.    Medico-legal b.    Specimens c.    Mortuary images d.    Theatre and Cardiac Theatre photography e.    A&E f.     Wards g.    Bereavement photography h.    Adults and children i.      Non-accidental injuries j.      Dental photography
- All aspects of ophthalmic photography including colour retina, FFA/ICG imaging, anterior segment photography and OCT eye screening.
- Production of patient videos
- Participation in Trust-wide projects
- Other assignments not listed, which DMPI/the Trust may require you to undertake
- Contribution in clinical trials, including recording data according to trial guidelines
- Maintain quality and standards within the department.
- Non clinical photography including photographs of equipment, group photographs, portraits and publicity images.
- Communication: a.    Discussion of clinical/non-clinical work with consultants and healthcare professional with assistance from senior staff if necessary b.    Liaise with patients regarding appointments and discuss procedural/consent information with patients, relatives, carers and Legal Power of Attorneys (LPA). c.    Liaise with police and solicitors and Data Access regarding consent and photographs of a legal nature d.    Discussing with and advising hospital staff of the photographic policy and issues.
- Administration: a.    Issuing patient appointments b.    Routine administration – filing, storing and retrieval of images on the WABA DMPI image database, maintaining patient records c.    Printing clinical photographs d.    Backing up images when required e.    Monitoring and maintaining stock levels f.     To maintain a personal development plan and keep up to date with appropriate technical and professional developments (CPD).

### Skills

**Essential**

- Evidence of good communication skills within a multi-disciplinary setting to patients and relatives

### Experience

- Competent in ophthalmic photography (including Fluoroscein Angiography and Indocyanine Green Angiography)

**Desirable**

- Has evidenced experience of Fluoroscein Angiography and Indocyanine Green Angiography
- Has minimal experience of Fluoroscein Angiography and Indocyanine Green Angiography

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Has been working at the level of a B5 Medical Photographer with desired qualifications

**Desirable**

- Achieved BSc Medical Illustration or equivalent
- Achieved post graduate certification in Medical Illustration
