The post will be ward based with the opportunity to attend specialist outpatient clinics and observe inpatient endoscopy (there will be no formal endoscopy training associated with this post). The successful applicant will consolidate their existing skills and experience in medicine within a busy Gastroenterology department. Exposure to a wide range of Gastroenterology and Hepatology specific conditions with place them in an excellent position when applying for further training within the speciality. The post will include on call in General Internal medicine at appropriated level, on the oncall rolling rota. The duties and responsibilities will be appropriate to the grade and speciality with appropriate consultant supervision. This will include the assessment, monitoring, and initiating treatment, with colleagues and under consultant supervision. Attend consultant and multidisciplinary ward rounds and supervise relevant junior medical students who may rotate through the directorate. Undertake regular unsupervised ward rounds on the relevant ward to ensure patients are making satisfactory progress. Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion.
