### Job overview

The Finance Manager for Corporate and R&D, will be responsible for providing professional financial advice to Director, Deputy Directors and staff within the department, operating across both HUTH and NLaG.

They will work within the Finance team, Care Groups and Services and to assist their understanding of the financial position and support how we continue to deliver high standards of care in a sustainable way.

### Main duties of the job

- 1  Line manage the Deputy Finance Managers/R&D Analyst within the Corporate and R&D function. 2  Producing and presenting detailed, accurate information in a range of formats to finance and non-finance staff; generating discussion to assist in improvements to financial or business management; including assisting with activity and unit costing analysis.
- Work with the Executives, Management teams and Care Group teams, to advise and support reviews of the cost savings program whilst evaluating and influencing their outcomes. Monitoring progress of cost savings and alerting of any potential risks of non-achievement.
- Provide appropriate expert advice on the interpretation of financial information, following appropriate accounting principles, investigating complex financial enquiries, analysing invoices, to ensure the Group/Trusts, are reporting a true and fair view of the financial position.
- Responsible for maintaining, improving and analysing risk of current accounting systems and processes and ensuring these are adhered to; including trading account processes and assisting with pass-through reconciliations.
- The post-holder is responsible for providing professional financial advice to managers within a range of specialist areas across the organisation. Using their understanding of the financial position to help inform how we continue to deliver high standards of care in a sustainable way.

## Person Specification

### Education/ Qualifications

**Essential**

- CCAB qualified or Passed Finalist (ie successfully completed and passed all examinations) who will achieve full qualification within 6 months and evidence of experience and working towards this level. Evidence of CPD portfolio and experience working to ward or at this level

**Desirable**

- Fully Qualified CCAB with comprehensive equivalent CPD portfolio

### Knowledge, Training & Experience

**Essential**

- Experience (through placements or employment) of working in a busy environment. Experience in managing large, complex budgets.
- Presenting both written and verbally finance information to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
- Ability to analyse multiple, large and complex sources of data. Prioritise and manage workload effectively

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of NHS finance regime.
- Experience managing NHS budgets.
- Knowledge of budget setting and business planning.

### Communication and Interpersonal Skills

**Essential**

- Communication and interpersonal skills, experience in presenting Finance information in writing.
- Good communication - verbal/written
- Be able to work on own initiative
