An exciting opportunity has arisen in the trust’s Financial Planning & Costing team for a Costing finance analyst.

The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic team and will help shape the future of our costing services as a key part of the trust’s decision-making framework.

This is an exciting and varied role with opportunity to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, developing service line reporting and patient level information & costing (PLICS) to inform decision making and improve patient care.

Reporting to the Costing Finance Manager you will support the preparation and presentation of the trust’s service line reporting and patient level information and cost reports, support the transition to cost-based funding mechanisms and contribute to the trust’s transformation agenda through the identification of productivity and efficiency opportunities.

You will use your strong financial management and accounting knowledge and experience to lead the collection and validation of financial and activity data and assist with the development of processes and methodologies to improve the Costing outputs

## Person Specification

### Skills

**Essential**

- IT literate & proficient in Microsoft packages including Excel, Word and advanced keyboard skills
- Ability to apply knowledge to workload and demonstrate analytical skills

**Desirable**

- Advanced Excel skills
- Good SQL query writing skills

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Understanding of accounting procedures, financial systems and general ledger
- Understanding of NHS finance regime and environment

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of NHS costing standards and principles
- Understanding of NHS SUS & HES activity reporting

### Other Requirements

**Essential**

- Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion

### Previous Experience

**Essential**

- Experience working in NHS financial management or costing
- Experience working with and analysing large complex datasets
- Familiar with presenting complex information to a range of stakeholders, including non-finance professionals

**Desirable**

- Experience working with acute provider NHS costing data; service line reporting (SLR) and/or patient level information & cost systems (PLICs)
- Experience of using SQL Server management studio
- Experience of building and maintaining reports in Power BI

### Qualifications/Training

**Essential**

- Completed AAT Technician Stage or be part way through studying for a CCAB/CIMA qualification

**Desirable**

- CCAB qualified
- Degree or equivalent
