Band 7-8a preceptorship

We welcome applications from Systemic Psychotherapists from a range of backgrounds. These posts could either be appointed as a band 7 preceptorship working towards an 8a position, or at an 8a depending upon skills and experience. Responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly. The post covers the North of Birmingham in Forward Thinking Birmingham for age 0 to 25years old.

We work as part of a multidisciplinary team and are an enthusiastic and dynamic team of Systemic Psychotherapists who value our professional identity and career progression opportunities that develop the 4 pillars of key skills namely our therapeutic expertise, leadership, education of others and service development within and across the 4 Core Teams in Forward Thinking Birmingham.

These skills are nurtured and developed from the moment you join the team, through training and supervision of individual work and service development projects. We are innovative and creative, and we are looking for others who would like to join the team.

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Masters/Diploma level qualification in Systemic Psychotherapy or AFT accredited equivalent.
- Post-graduate qualification in relevant mental health/social welfare profession and demonstrable practice over a minimum of four
- Eligible for UKCP Registration

**Desirable**

- Training in other relevant therapeutic modalities.

- Flexibility regarding working hours, including the ability to work some evenings if necessary

### Analytical and Judgement Skills

**Essential**

- Skills in the use of complex methods of systemic assessment and treatment of individuals, couples, family systems, groups and organisations, frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration in the face of emotional intensity, and potential verbal and physical intimidation.
- Ability to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behavior.

### Knowledge & Nature of Experience

- Minimum four years practice in relevant first profession
- Experience of working with children, young people and their families.
- Experience of working in a mental health setting.
- Experience of maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of working with different clients and age groups.
- Experience of risk assessment and risk management
- Knowledge of and skill in using a wide variety of systemic theories and evidence-based interventions and the ability to use these appropriately in relation to client need and work setting.
- Sufficient knowledge of other modalities to engage appropriately with colleagues and their work with clients.
- Knowledge of child development/ mental health issues

- Experience of teaching, training, staff support, research
- Knowledge of current developments in community       mental health services for 0 – 25-year-olds.
- Experience of working in CAMHS/0-25 setting
- Experience of working in a community mental health setting.
