Location: North Wales Adolescent Service (NWAS) Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (37.5 hours/week) Salary Band: Band 7 progressing to Band 8a (Development Role) Service: Tier 4 CAMHS – Specialist Child & Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Service

Are you ready to make a real difference in young lives?

We are delighted to offer an exciting development opportunity for a Family & Systemic Psychotherapist to join our dynamic and compassionate multi-disciplinary team within BCUHB’s Tier 4 Highly Specialist CAMHS Service. You will work across both the Kestrel Inpatient Ward and Kite – Intensive Community Support Team.

This post is offered as a Band 7–8a progression role, providing the opportunity for an appropriately qualified and experienced practitioner to develop into a highly Specialist (Band 8a) Family & Systemic Psychotherapist role, supported by structured supervision, competency development, and service leadership opportunities.

Support is available from experienced professionals including the Consultant Nurse/Family & Systemic Psychotherapist and Consultant Family & Systemic Psychotherapist, alongside a thriving North Wales Family & Systemic Community of Practice.

Please note there is no requirement for registration under the Mental Health Measure (Wales) for this post.

### Main duties of the job

About the Development Pathway

At Band 7, you will:

- Deliver systemic interventions under supervision
- Build experience within inpatient and intensive community settings
- Work towards defined competencies required for progression

Progression to Band 8a will be supported through:

- Demonstration of advanced clinical skills and autonomy
- Leadership and supervisory capability
- Contribution to service development and systemic practice across CAMHS

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals at different stages of their development:

For Band 7 entry:

- Qualified (or nearing qualification) in Family & Systemic Psychotherapy
- Experience working with children, young people, or families
- Commitment to developing specialist skills within a Tier 4 setting

For Band 8a entry (or progression):

- Qualified Family & Systemic Psychotherapist with relevant registration
- Experience working with complex presentations in intensive settings
- Ability to provide supervision, consultation, and leadership

- Passionate about multi-agency and systemic working

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working as a registered family/systemic psychotherapist
- Experience of implementing evidence based family interventions
- Experience in relevant regulated profession e.g. nursing, social work or clinical psychology
- Experience of taking full clinical responsibility for clients’ care, with experience of co-ordinating care within the context of multi-disciplinary care-planning

**Desirable**

- Experience of working directly with children and young people
- Direct experience of Care Coordination under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision

### Aptitude and Abilities

**Essential**

- Highly developed skills in systemic practice
- Ability to develop, manage and co ordinate family therapy / systemic interviewing
- Ability to develop, manage and co ordinate training packages (staff and clients)
- Ability to develop, manage co ordinate and provide consultation to other professionals
- Ability to work within an evidence based framework
- Ability to contain and work with organisational stress and ability to “hold” the stress of others
- Ability to work with distressing clinical material and help others manage this
- Ability to work in contexts of high complexity and ongoing change

**Desirable**

- Ability to speak Welsh.

### Qualifications and/or Knowledge

**Essential**

- Relevant degree
- A recognised post graduate Family Therapy or equivalent qualification at level of Masters or higher academic award
- UKCP registration as a family/systemic Psychotherapist
- Highly developed knowledge of systemic theory and practice.
- Knowledge of research design and methodology as practised within the field of family therapy
- Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to this client group i.e. children
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the UKCP/AFT

**Desirable**

- Additional relevant academic and/or accredited therapeutic qualification
- A professional qualification in a relevant regulated profession eligible under the Mental Health Measure (Wales) 2010 e.g. Nursing, Social Work
