We are looking for a skilled and motivated Estates Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) to join our Estates Team and help ensure our hospitals and healthcare facilities remain safe, compliant, and fully operational for patients, visitors, and staff.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced mechanical technician who takes pride in delivering high-quality maintenance and engineering services and wants to make a real difference within the NHS. Working across a diverse healthcare estate, you will undertake a wide range of planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding, installation, and improvement works on mechanical building services, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water systems, medical gas infrastructure, and associated plant and non medical equipment.

As an Estates Technician (Mechanical), you will have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise to complex engineering challenges, support the delivery of estates projects, mentor colleagues and apprentices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our Estates service.

### Main duties of the job

As an Estates Maintenance Technician (Mechanical), you will:

- Deliver planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding, and installation work across a wide range of mechanical engineering systems, plant, and equipment.
- Plan and organise your workload in collaboration with clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure work is completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to services.
- Diagnose complex mechanical faults using specialist tools and testing equipment, implementing safe and effective repairs.
- Respond promptly to urgent and emergency maintenance issues, ensuring critical services are restored as quickly and safely as possible.
- Communicate effectively with staff and service users, providing clear updates on maintenance activities and any impact on operational areas.
- Operate and utilise the Trust's Building Management System (BMS) and other digital systems, undertaking training as required.
- Work safely at all times, assessing risks and ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, colleagues, and contractors while carrying out maintenance activities.
- Comply with statutory regulations, NHS guidance, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), Permit to Work procedures, and the Trust's quality management systems.
- Undertake Authorised Person, Responsible Person, or Nominated Person duties in specialist areas such as Water Safety, Pressure Systems, or other disciplines, following appropriate training and competency assessment.

### Job responsibilities

We are looking for someone who has a strong technical background and a passion for delivering high quality engineering services within a healthcare environment.

- HNC in Building Engineering (or a related engineering discipline), or an equivalent qualification supported by relevant further education, training, and significant experience within a large, complex Estates function.
- Completion of a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
- Proven experience working within complex engineering services, with a demonstrable track record of delivering high-quality maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and engineering solutions.
- Experience of working on a wide range of mechanical building services and plant within a large or similarly complex organisation.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and contribute positively as part of a multidisciplinary Estates team.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service while supporting the delivery of excellent patient care.
