A permanent vacancy has arisen within the Estates & Facilities Directorate for an experienced building maintenance Painter & Decorator to join the Barts Heath NHS Trust. The job is based at Whipps Cross Hospital but may be required to work at other hospitals and health care premises within Barts Health NHS Trust.

### Main duties of the job

- Duties cover a range of painting & decorating maintenance work including planned and breakdown maintenance, servicing, and repair of buildings and fixtures work across the hospital estate.
- Key Responsibilities of the post will include undertaking a range of repairs and core building maintenance duties and associated works for the Trust. To maintain building services and equipment at the hospital whilst at all times observing all relevant Health and Safety guidelines and Regulations.
- The basic working week is 37.5 hours, Monday-Friday 08:30 to 16:30. You must however, have the ability and willingness to work flexible hours including overtime and call outs as workload demands, for which additional payment is made. The position is also eligible for the NHS pension scheme along with access to a wide range of staff benefits, and in addition to public bank holidays annual leave of 27 days on appointment rising to 29 days after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

### Knowledge

- Good knowledge of H&S Legislation and some knowledge of COSHH Basic computer skills

### Experience

- 3 years’ decorating experience of hospitals or similar
- Good manual dexterity and hand/eye co-ordination

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- To have served a recognised building/decorator apprenticeship or training to a C&G Level 2/ 3 qualification in Painting and Decorating (6707) or equivalent
- A good understanding of COSHH regulations
- Knowledge of different building/decoration materials and methods
- Painting & Decorating techniques

**Desirable**

- A good understanding of Health and Safety Legislation
