The role:

The position is for an Endoscopy Decontamination Unit (EDU) Technician at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The core purpose of the role is to decontaminate, disinfect, assemble, store, and distribute reusable flexible endoscopes, following manufacturer instructions and ensuring safe use for patients across clinics, theatres, and other treatment areas.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis following interview and during the pre-employment verification process. Permanent, Full-time

Work pattern: Monday–Friday, rotating weekly across:

  • 08:00–16:00
  • 09:00–17:00
  • 10:00–18:00
  • 12:00–20:00 (Mondays only, when required)

Key responsibilities:

  • Decontamination and disinfection of reusable flexible endoscopes
  • Assembly, storage, and distribution of scopes to clinical areas
  • Working to strict quality and safety standards in a fast‑paced environment
  • Ensuring continuity of patient care through timely processing
  • Being multi‑skilled across all areas of EDU operations
