We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and committed Employee Relations (ER) Manager to join our team at GESH (St George’s, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals).

This is an exciting time to join GESH, as we continue to develop and embed new and improved ways of working across the Trust. This role offers a real opportunity to make a meaningful impact, providing expert Employee Relations support and contributing to a positive, fair, and consistent approach to people management.

As ER Manager, you will work closely with the Deputy Group Head of Employee Relations and Group Head of Employee Relations to provide a specialist employee relations and resolution service to managers and staff across the group. The role will require working closely with managers and management teams to improve the standard of ER practice, ensuring that best practice is developed.

### Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of Employee Relations Advisors, which will include providing support and guidance on ER matters and identifying new ways of working.

The role will support the development of the skills and capacity of managers to empower them to manage people issues effectively and independently. The post holder will drive the delivery of an early resolution approach in the delivery of advice to managers to build confidence in dealing with complex people-management issues.

The post holder will be responsible for complex employee relations case work and will provide advice and support to line managers on a range of ER issues including, but not limited to, discipline, grievance management, poor performance and attendance and workplace dispute management.

As a senior member of the gesh Employee Relations Team the postholder will be expected to support casework across all group sites as and when required.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- - Experience of managing multiple complex ER cases from a strategic perspective
- - Significant demonstrable experience of advising a range of stakeholders on a broad range of ER issues balancing legal compliance with business need and developing practical value-adding solutions
- - Experience managing staff
- - Experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of training programmes

**Desirable**

- - Experience of TUPE or major organisational change
- - Project management experience

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- - Highly specialist HR knowledge to master’s level equivalent acquired through a degree (or significant commensurate HR experience)
- - Professional HR qualification (CIPD – level 5 or working towards with equivalent experience)
- - Significant experience in an employee relations role

**Desirable**

- - Formal training in a relevant topic such as coaching, mediation or employment law
- - Level 7 CIPD qualification
