### Job overview

A high profile, accessible and responsive Practitioner with clinical responsibility for the delivery of Advanced Clinical Practice in Emergency Medicine, able to make informed decisions within their own speciality and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, targets and objectives are met.

Main duties of the job

There may be a requirement for the post holder to work within all areas of the Emergency Department. This includes Majors, Minors, Resuscitation room (paediatric area also included if suitably experienced), undertaking primary and secondary assessments alongside medical colleagues and providing support and guidance to nursing and medical staff in the management of the patients within the Emergency Department. Depending on the registered nurse of Allied Healthcare Professional background and experience (and departmental requirements) the initial focus will likely be on minor injury and illness unless this has already been achieved. The post holder will be required to ensure evidence based care is delivered to patients and will be involved in audit of practice, research, teaching and service improvement.

The role of the ACP is integral to the medical assessment, management and referral of patients presenting to the emergency department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn, working alongside the medical team, including doctors in training, and the wider multi-professional workforce.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Currently practicing within an urgent and emergency care setting, demonstrating a broad range of experience within the acute setting
- Experience of successfully resolving complex problems
- Current or experience as ENP

**Desirable**

- Evidence of conference presentation or journal publication

### Skills, abilities and knowledge

**Essential**

- Demonstrate ability to produce complex reports and formulate policies
- An understanding and ability to ensure clinical governance is embedded in practice
- Knowledge of the national and local NHS healthcare agenda and its implications

**Desirable**

- Management of patients with complex needs

### Qualifications/training and professional development

**Essential**

- Registered nurse or Healthcare Professional with current NMC/HCPC professional registration
- First Level Degree
- Able to study at Masters level and willing to complete, or currently working towards non-medical prescribing
- IRMER regulation trained
- Lever 7 minor injury module

**Desirable**

- ALS/ APLS provider or equivalent
- RED DOT X-ray training courses
