In this role, you will work autonomously as an independent practitioner, managing a diverse caseload of patients presenting with minor injuries and undiagnosed conditions. You will deliver expert clinical care in accordance with established protocols and guidelines, ensuring timely assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and appropriate referral.

As a key member of the emergency team, you will demonstrate advanced clinical skills, critical thinking, and sound decision-making. You will also be expected to act as a role model, contributing to the ongoing development of high-quality emergency care and supporting best practices.

### Main duties of the job

To see and treat patients with a wide variety of minor illnesses and injuries.
- Demonstrate effective clinical practice with a sound knowledge base incorporating proven research to enhance person-centred care, acting as a patient advocate.
- Safely manage patient caseload and work within Trust Protocols and guidelines for ED
- To be IT literate and be able to use electronic patient records, which will allow other health professionals to continue patient care if required. Writing concise notes.
- Promote a learning environment for all grades of staff allocated to the Department by taking an active role in teaching.
- Actively participate in the See-and-Treat of patients attending the Department within relevant protocols.
- To work in a navigational role signposting patients to the appropriate areas and providing clinical expertise.
- Work with the Nurse in Charge to prioritise and promote effective and timely flow of patients

- Provide clinical expertise for vulnerable patients in waiting room, giving advice, analgesia if indicated and reassurances with clinical care.

### Qualifications

- Minor Injury / Minor Illness  Autonomous practice module
- Active first level registration with  the NMC/HCPC
- ILS

- Non-medical prescriber
- ALS
- MSc Advanced Clinical Practice

### Clinical skills and  experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working within a  care setting that provides care to  patients with minor injuries or  illness.
- Experience of delivering care in  line with national clinical and  operational targets.
- Advanced wound care  management/closure skills
- X-Ray interpretation skills to  recognise and manage limb  fractures
- Expert knowledge on the clinical  management of minor injury and  illness conditions

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in an  Urgent Treatment Centre
- Experience of working in an  emergency department or  primary care practice

### Personal/professional  attributes

**Essential**

- Ability to teach / mentor staff
- Excellent patient and  multidisciplinary team  communications skills
