The applicant should have experience in working within an emergency care environment. This is a rewarding role that offers clinical support to nursing and medical staff in the delivery of patient focused care.  As part of this role, the successful applicant will be involved in assisting patient flow through the minor injuries area of the department.  Applicants should be enthusiastic and motivated in the delivery of high standards of care and in the maintenance of a safe environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a large team is essential. ### Main duties of the job This exciting role includes clinical support to nursing and medical staff and also includes the distinct functions of support the navigation of patients through the minor injuries areas of the Emergency Department (ED). It is envisaged on a daily basis the post holder will be allocated to one of the roles identified below, however the post holder will be expected to work flexibly as directed by the nurse in charge of the department. The main function of the EDA role are: The provision of direct care to patients under the supervision of health care professionals. At all times ensuring that high standards are maintained in a safe environment, which promotes equality and sensitivity for all individuals. Working as a member of the ED collaborating with key individuals and departments to ensure the smooth flow of patients through the Minors area. Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements.
