### Job overview

This is an opportunity to join the expanding team within Radiotherapy Physics providing clinical scientific and engineering services to the Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology. The Department currently has a Managed Services Contract with Ergéa to provide a comprehensive radiotherapy service to the people of Norfolk. The radiotherapy equipment consists of five linear accelerators all with multi-leaf collimators, CBCT and electronic portal imaging, 2 CT-simulators, Eclipse treatment planning system, orthovoltage unit and Bravos High dose-rate brachytherapy afterloading machine. The Department is fully electronically networked and largely paper-free.

The role will have a fixed working pattern associated with it and the hours of work will be from 06:45 to 14:45, Monday to Friday.

The Study Leave Policy, as issued by the NNUH, is to be followed relating to attendance at Courses, etc.  Details of this can be provided on request.

### Main duties of the job

As post holder, your duties will include:

- Maintain and service all radiotherapy equipment.
- Fault find and carry out emergency repairs to all radiotherapy equipment.
- Perform safety and quality assurance checks on all radiotherapy equipment.
- Keep up to date records of all service work, repairs and QA checks.
- Liaise with Radiographer and Radiotherapy Physics scientific staff in respect of machine performance to ensure safe radiotherapy treatment.
- Participation in maintaining the Departmental ISO9001:2015 quality system including review of procedures, writing of work instructions, carrying out audits.

- Carry out routine quality assurance (QA) checks on radiotherapy equipment according to established departmental procedures.
- Record and maintain accurate QA results and equipment performance records.
- Identify and report unexpected results or equipment issues to senior engineering or physics staff.
- Assist in diagnosing faults on radiotherapy treatment and planning equipment.
- Assist with basic repairs and troubleshooting under the supervision of senior engineering staff.
- Carry out routine preventative maintenance tasks on radiotherapy equipment.
- Provide support to the mould room when required in the manufacture of patient immobilisation devices including thermoplastic masks, moulds, bolus and positioning aids.
- Assist in preparing materials used for patient positioning devices.
- Assist in the fabrication and finishing of treatment accessories using workshop tools and moulding equipment.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to communicate with colleagues and other professions.
- Ability to work safely in environments involving high voltage equipment, ionising radiation, lead shielding and other clinical hazards, following appropriate safety procedures.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience working in an electronic, electrical or technical engineering environment.
- Experience in fault finding and diagnosing technical problems in electronic or electromechanical equipment

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Professional electronics knowledge to degree or equivalent level eg BEng, or BTech/HND + further training or experience.
