Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust currently uses the Cerner Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) system, shared across the North West London Acute Provider Group, including Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust, London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic ePMA team at an exciting time of digital transformation.

This role offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in electronic prescribing systems while playing a key part in a groundbreaking initiative to support the transition of Clinical Trials from paper-based to fully digital processes. You will work closely with pharmacy, clinical, digital and research teams, helping to shape how medicines are managed safely and effectively for patients across our organisation.

### Main duties of the job

- To assist with the implementation, maintenance, development of electronic prescribing and medicines administration (ePMA) across Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
- To support back-end technical processes such as configuration, development and testing of the Trust’s current or future ePMA systems.
- To train and support all staff involved with the ePMA process. This includes pharmacy staff, prescribers, nurses and floorwalkers.
- To convey and promote benefits of ePMA and ensure any implementation is carried out in an effective and safe manner.
- To be a champion user of the ePMA system, applying extensive knowledge and understanding of how the system works and the workflow that staff need to follow to ensure safety
- The post holder will exercise professional accountability and responsibility using professional skills, knowledge and expertise in changing inpatient environments, across professional boundaries and in unfamiliar situations.
- To provide ePMA support services according to rota if necessary (including early, late, weekend working)
- To support ePMA team and dispensary as an Accredited Checking Technician (ACPT)

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

### Education

**Essential**

- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC
- NVQ level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) and relevant underpinning knowledge in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent
- Mandatory professional CPD as defined by the GPhC
- ACPT or recognised accredited pharmacy technician checking qualification

**Desirable**

- Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician qualification or equivalent e.g. AIMMS, MOPs

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working in a UK hospital; this must include a solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy
- Experience in use and knowledge of electronic prescribing systems
- Experience of pharmacy computer systems
- Experience in delivering training and education

**Desirable**

- Experience of working as a ward based-technician
- Experience of CMM pharmacy system
- Experience of using Cerner electronic prescribing systems
- Experience of managing change
- Experience of developing or rolling out an ePMA system in secondary care
