The Electrical Assistant supports the Estates Electrical Team in delivering safe, effective and responsive maintenance services across all Trust sites. The post holder assists with planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, minor works and installations, ensuring compliance with Trust policies, statutory regulations and health and safety requirements. The role contributes to maintaining essential electrical services and to supporting a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

### Main duties of the job

Assist qualified electrical staff with routine maintenance, inspections, repairs and installations across the Trust’s electrical infrastructure. Support planned preventative maintenance programmes, respond to reactive maintenance requests, complete maintenance records and job documentation, assist with surveys and audits, and help maintain patient-facing equipment and facilities. Participate in emergency response activities and provide support to other Estates trades as required.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The postholder will undertake minor maintenance works under supervision, assist Competent Persons with electrical installations and low-voltage works, carry out routine PPM activities, support fault finding and repairs, and ensure compliance with safe systems of work. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, using appropriate PPE and equipment, assisting with cross-trade maintenance activities, responding to urgent operational issues affecting patient services, supporting estates surveys and audits, and participating in the Trust’s out-of-hours arrangements where required. The role requires flexibility, teamwork, a strong safety focus and a commitment to delivering high-quality Estates services.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
