The Education and Governance 0-19 Lead is a strategic role dedicated to developing and overseeing robust educational frameworks and governance systems for the 0-19 community public health nursing service in Lewisham. The role involves ensuring that all training and educational programmes, including those for pre‐registration Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) students, health visiting, school health, community nurses, FNP, PAIRS initiative, are evidence based, compliant with NICE and regulatory standards, and aligned with the Healthy Child Programe

### Main duties of the job

- Take overall responsibility and provide expert advice on the development and provision of CYP nursing educational programmes.
- Ensure that all training that is provided is in line with local and national standards.
- Act as a specialist practitioner/role model in the area of education and training at a local and national level.
- Work closely with the senior public health nursing team on planned changes to pre and post registration education programmes including new roles and the training that may be required.
- Maintain a training needs analysis which reflects the needs of the service whilst ensuring compliance with national standards.
- Monitor the quality of the content, delivery and feedback of all educational programmes across the department.
- Participate as appropriate in the delivery of pre and post registration educational activity within the 0 – 19 public health nursing service.
- Co-ordinate and deliver education to other healthcare staff as required.
- Develop and implement innovative educational approaches.
- Develop clinical competency assessment documents.
- Prepare bids to secure funding which would enhance the delivery of education programmes.

- Strategic Planning:The Education and Governance Lead will develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for education and governance within the 0-19 public health nursing pathway, including children’s community nursing services.. They will align plans with national and local frameworks, ensuring the integration of the Healthy Child Programme, along with population health needs assessment findings and in line with commissioned services.
- Inspirational Leadership:The Education and Governance Lead will lead by example through an inclusive, transparent, and collaborative management style. Empower clinical educators, academic partners, and clinical teams to drive continuous quality improvement.
- There is an expectation to be visible leader on community sites, the base location is yet to be decided, however, travel between sites is an expectation.

- Pre-registration SCPHN Education:The Education and Governance Lead will work in partnership with academic institutions and practice educators to design, deliver, and quality-assure pre-registration SCPHN curricula. Ensure that the training programme reflects current NMC standards and prepares students to assume specialist roles in health visiting, school health, and broader public health practice.
- Integrated Curriculum Design:Oversee the development and continual enhancement of educational programmes across the CYP community  nursing services, including specialised modules for health visiting, HVAP’s and school nursing, thereby ensuring that early careers are fostered through robust, clinically relevant training and enhanced learning that meet the needs of an experienced workforce.  They will work collaboratively with the Transformation and High Impact Area Needs Lead to design and deliver training specific to the identified needs of the service including but not limited to: weaning, teething, toileting, sleep issues, behaviours challenges, school readiness.
- Innovative Teaching Methods:The Education and Governance Lead will promote the adoption of innovative teaching methods, simulation-based learning, and immersive clinical experiences that prepare students for the complexities of community health practice.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Proven recent experience of working in education and governance in health visiting/school health.
- Senior clinical experience within education and governance.
- Partnership/multi-professional working.
- Managing staff.
- Developing and implementing service development initiatives
- Demonstrate experience of change management
- Developing and implementing educational programmes for patients and staff.
- Research and audit
- Proven track record of staff development and team working
- Effective budget management

**Desirable**

- Service/professional presentations to a wide group.

### Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- Degree
- Registered nurse \[Part 1\] / or Registered Midwife
- SCPHN Qualified
- Post registration qualification or equivalent experience in Education and governance.
- Master’s degree in relevant discipline or in process of studying to Masters level.
- Teaching and assessing qualification

**Desirable**

- Independent non-medical prescribing qualification.
