### Job overview

Primally based at Friarage Hospital to purpose of this role is to provide essential specialist expertise in echocardiography. To provide expert training, advice and developmental support for other staff. Contribute to maintain waiting list targets and to the provision of high patient care. Keys roles been,

- Perform echocardiograms on both inpatients and outpatients to a high standard, at all trust sites, Providing clear and accurate reports on echocardiograms.
- Play an active role in the supervision and training of medical and technical staff in all areas of echocardiography.

### Main duties of the job

- Perform echocardiograms on both inpatients and outpatients to a high standard, at all trust sites, Providing clear and accurate reports on echocardiograms.
- Play an active role in the supervision and training of medical and technical staff in all areas of echocardiography.
- Extended role developments – contrast and stress echocardiography, TOE, CRT, 3D, simple SCHD and specialist valve clinics, specialist Cath lab support for TAVI and structural heart disease procedures with possible development into MRI / Paediatric clinics.
- To follow department protocols for the day-to-day coordination of the echo department
- Respond appropriately to cardiac / cardiopulmonary arrest and other life-threatening emergencies.
- If needed rotate through non-invasive diagnostic clinics in a supervisory capacity- ETT/Tilts/Active stands/ Ambulatory analysis.
- Due to the departments infrastructure if the successful candidate has relevant experience/competence in Cardiac Cath labs, PPCI, TAVI, CRM device implants these will be maintained, and they will participate in the Cath lab on call service

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Advanced specialist knowledge of all modalities of echocardiography.
- Sound Decision making, analytical and judgemental skills
- Ability to foresee implications of decisions and their impact on others
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines whilst delivering high quality work
- Supervised in ETT
- Ambulatory ECG analysis

**Desirable**

- Participating in physiology led valve clinics
- Tilt Table testing
- Participation in QA

### Knowledge & Skills

**Essential**

- Excellent knowledge of technical cardiology.
- Ability to perform and report adult transthoracic echocardiograms
- Ability to interpret echo and Doppler data and write a report of findings.
- Excellent interpersonal skills

### Qualifications & Training

**Essential**

- BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology
- BSE accreditation in adult echocardiography

**Desirable**

- Experience as a student mentor.
- Registration with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists or other appropriate council
- BSE marker/ assessor
- Clinical/ Physical Skills Attendance at the leadership and development and improvement programme (4.5 days)
