### Job overview

To provide specialist cardiology technical investigations, and work as an independent practitioner in Echocardiography.

The successful candidate will take on responsibility for the investigation, reporting, diagnosis and patient care needs within their area.

Working practice should be in accordance with occupational guidelines set out for each investigation, but you will have sufficient expertise to adapt practice to meet the requirements of the service area.

The successful candidate will need to work in all areas of non-invasive diagnostic cardiology but predominantly in Echocardiography across Epsom and St. Helier Hospitals

### Main duties of the job

- 1.     To be an independent Practitioner at a specialist technical level in the performance of simple and complex Cardiology investigations and diagnosis. 2.     To be able to demonstrate ability at a highly specialised level in Echocardiography.

Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE)

- Perform transthoracic echocardiograms to a high standard in accordance to British Society of Echocardiography and Departmental minimum standards
- Identify and advise when transthoracic echocardiography is insufficient for a clinical diagnosis and proactively suggest and arrange alternative/additional investigations
- Produce an accurate and comprehensive report for each study
- Maintain up to date knowledge of technical developments within the specialty and be aware of the future clinical implications
- To ensure a high quality service is delivered and to contribute to the efficient running of the department.
- To triage requests appropriately in accordance with BSE guidelines to ensure that urgent and 2WR are prioritized, and to assist the management team to meet constitutional diagnostic targets.

General

- Assist with image archiving and transfer of images to other centers via IEP.
- Routine maintenance of echo equipment

- Experience of working with the public in a variety of settings and able to demonstrate good customer care. Experience of working in a health care setting, with skills and experience in rehabilitation of patients, general mobility skills and communication Good Verbal and written communication skills
