This role is part of the Humber and North Yorkshire Dynamic Support Keyworker Service, which works alongside autistic children and young people, and children and young people with a learning disability, up to the age of 25, who are at an increased likelihood of experiencing a mental health hospital admission.

The service provides support across Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire and York. We work in partnership with individuals, families, carers and professionals across health, education, social care, and the voluntary and community sector to ensure support is coordinated, personalised and responsive to what matters most to each person.

You will be someone who:

- Communicates with warmth, empathy and respect, and is able to build trusting relationships with individuals, families, carers and professionals.
- Is committed to trauma-informed, neuro-affirming practice, recognising the impact of trauma, adversity and systemic barriers on people's lives.
- Upholds the rights, voices and choices of autistic people and people with a learning disability, ensuring they are at the centre of decisions that affect them.
- Takes a collaborative, strengths-based and solution-focused approach, working alongside others to develop creative and personalised responses to complex situations.
- Has experience of supporting people who may experience multiple vulnerabilities, recognising the importance of reducing distress, promoting their psychological safety and preventing unnecessary escalation.
- Has an understanding of children's, young people's and adult services, and values partnership working across organisational boundaries to improve outcomes.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working with autistic people and/or people with a learning disability, people with complex communication and behavioural issues, and their parents/families/carers.
- Experience of liaising with multi- disciplinary professionals and working across agencies, holding to account where appropriate.

**Desirable**

- Have experience and skills in undertaking holistic whole family assessments and risk assessments.

### Skills and competences

**Essential**

- Empathy/Understanding - able to demonstrate an approach that requires an understanding of the needs from the perspective of people and their family and carers.
- Positive and Solution focussed - has positive, solution focussed approach to ensuring the best outcomes for people and their family and carers.
- Commitment to joined-up collaborative working.

### Qualifications and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Professional qualification equivalent to degree level in a relevant subject, or equivalent level of experience of autistic people, people with learning disabilities, or both, gained through lived experience, education, youth work, health, or social services.
- Understanding of a range of work procedures and practices, which require expertise within a specialism or discipline underpinned by theoretical knowledge of relevant practical experience.

**Desirable**

- Lived Experience specific to learning disabilities, autism or both with children, young people and adults up to the age of 25.
