### Job overview

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Operating Officer (DCOO), the Divisional General Manager will deputise for the DCOO as required and will have specific Divisional Portfolios to support the effective delivery of safe high-quality services.

They will be responsible for establishing a comprehensive annual plan for the Division. Working in collaboration with the Care Group Managers, Clinical Directors and matrons to ensure Care Groups are compliant with financial, quality, governance, health and safety and patient experience requirements, workforce and performance targets.

### Main duties of the job

- The Divisional General Manager supports the DCOO in providing leadership to all staff within the Division and leading the Divisional team. Deputising for the DCOO for a portfolio of work to support the Division’s corporate objectives.
- The post-holder will support the Divisional Senior Leadership team to lead the delivery of a safe, quality driven and continuously improving service to patients across all services within the Division which puts patients at the centre of care and ensures their needs are consistently and demonstrably met.
- Support the Divisional Senior Leadership Team to ensure the Division’s service delivery and performance, ensuring that Divisional core deliverables, key performance measures and standards are achieved, that income and expenditure are managed to plan, whilst ensuring all “resources” are optimised and the Division functions effectively.
- Provide strong leadership and management of staff, including staff recruitment and selection, performance, appraisal and development and ensuring that staff are managed and lead effectively throughout the Division.
- Support the development of services and policies across a range of         specialist areas, Divisional boundaries and other associated health and social care organisations.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Educated to Master’s degree level or equivalent relevant senior management experience
- Evidence of highly developed professional management development within relevant field of practice
- Evidence of a commitment to continuous professional development

**Desirable**

- Workforce planning/development/innovation

### Key competencies

**Essential**

- Significant experience of leadership at a senior managerial level in operational and/or financial and strategic management, including exposure to Board.
- Evidence of effective design and management of patient flows and pathways
