### Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable dispenser to join our team at Victoria Surgery. The successful candidate will provide safe and efficient dispensing services, supporting our clinical team and ensuring our patients receive their medications in a timely manner. We can consider newly qualified applicants. The successful candidate will work 24 hours per week over 3-4 days. We may consider additional hours for the right candidate.

### Main duties of the job

- Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme;
- Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor;
- Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient;
- Process hospital letters;
- Process dossette boxes;
- Manage ordering stock and stock control;
- Answer and deal with dispensary phone enquiries;
- Monitor patients exemption status;
- Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication;
- Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the dispensary manager.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Dispensary and/or community pharmacy experience;
- Excellent clinical and medication knowledge;
- The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career;
- The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making;
- Knowledge of NHS dispensing regulations and good practice
- The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach;
- Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills.
