### Job summary

To provide an efficient, accurate and safe dispensing service to patients under the supervision of the Dispensary Lead and in accordance with practice procedures, NHS regulations and relevant legislation. The post holder will contribute as part of a dispensary team, ensuring high standards of patient care, stock control and medicines management.

PLEASE NOTE, LIKE MANY SURGERIES, WE HAVE A POLICY WHEREBY STAFF CANNOT BE REGISTERED AS PATIENTS. IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY REGISTERED AT ALBRIGHTON MEDICAL PRACTICE AS A PATIENT, YOU WOULD NEED TO REGISTER ELSEWHERE BEFORE YOUR EMPLOYMENT COMMENCED.

- Prepare and dispense prescriptions accurately in accordance with practice procedures and legal requirements.
- Assist patients with medication collection and dispensary enquiries.

- Receive and unpack medication deliveries.

- Provide cover for colleagues during annual leave and sickness absence.

### Job responsibilities

- Prepare and dispense prescriptions accurately in accordance with practice procedures and legal requirements.
- Process repeat prescriptions efficiently and safely.
- Ensure prescriptions are labelled correctly and checked before issue.
- Refer dispensing queries to the Dispensary Lead, pharmacist or GP when necessary.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Assist patients with medication collection and dispensary enquiries.

- Assist with claims, audits and stock reconciliations.
- Support end-of-month stock counts and dispensary administration.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in audits and quality improvement activities.
- Report incidents, near misses and dispensing errors promptly.
- Comply with CQC requirements, NHS regulations and practice policies.
- Adhere to GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Follow COSHH, infection prevention and control, and health and safety procedures.
- Participate in mandatory training, including safeguarding.

### Qualifications

- Good literacy and numeracy

- NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Service
- GP or pharmacy dispensing experience
- Knowledge of NHS prescribing processes
- IT skills and use of clinical systems
