### Job summary

Hoveton and Wroxham Medical Centre is looking to welcome and bright and motivated dispensary business manager into our busy practice who will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. The role is offered on a part-time basis for 18 hours per week, working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

### Main duties of the job

- Keep a database of dispensary discounts with wholesalers and organise information so that new deals can be examined further.
- Help the operations manager carefully track dispensary income and expenditure against the data on income and expenditure received at practice level.
- Raise concerns around negative trending with the Practice Manager and GP Prescribing Partner.
- Consult with clinical teams and lead GP Prescribing Partner around preferred drug options for the formulary.
- Communicate effectively and on time any financial opportunities
- Manage the NHS Prescription Service submissions (previously known as the Prescription Pricing Division (PPD).
- Develop predictions and check variances in spend and income for dispensary.
- Scrutinise drug freight costs and the effect on small scale ordering. To tell the dispensary staff who order these items by consulting with the dispensary lead.
- Ensure correct recording of Personally Administered items for VAT purposes.
- Agree to meet with and arrange meetings with wholesaler representatives.
- Coordinate the monthly clinical prescribing meetings, setting agendas and circulating minutes.
- Manage setting the monthly dispensary management meetings including agenda setting, minutes and actions.
- Manage DSQS in the practice working with the dispensary lead to ensure that requirements are operationalised and reviewed.
- Attend clinical prescribing and dispensary management meetings.

We are a highly reputable, semi-rural, dispensing, research and GP training practice operating in north Norfolk within the village of Hoveton/Wroxham, 6-miles to the north east of the fine city of Norwich. We have a growing list size of approximately 10,000 patients. We are also a member of the NN4 Primary Care Network, working closely with 5 other local practices.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- At least two years management experience.
- Previous dispensary/pharmacy experience would be desirable.
- Experience in financial management
- Self-motivated, with a forward thinking, solution focused approach
- Experience of working in an ever-changing environment, with an ability to cope with regular change
- Excellent organisational, management and planning skills, IT skills and communication skills
- Ability to implement and manage change effectively
- Excellent clinical and medication knowledge.
- The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career.
- The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making.
