### Main duties of the job

The Directorate Operations Manager (DOM) is responsible for the day-to-day operational leadership and performance management of designated clinical services within the Directorate. Working as part of the Service Triumvirate and alongside the Senior Operations Manager, the post holder will ensure the delivery of safe, effective, high-quality, and patient-centred services across all sites.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading operational service delivery to achieve key NHS performance standards, including waiting times, patient flow, access targets, quality indicators, and financial objectives.
- Managing and supporting administrative and operational teams to deliver efficient and effective services.
- Driving service improvement, transformation, and productivity initiatives using national best practice, GIRFT recommendations, and quality improvement methodologies.
- Supporting business planning, workforce planning, budget management, and cost improvement programmes within the Directorate.
- Monitoring operational performance data and implementing recovery plans where required.
- Ensuring compliance with governance, risk management, patient safety, and CQC standards.
- Working collaboratively with clinicians, nursing teams, corporate departments, and external partners to support strategic and operational objectives.
- Leading and supporting change management programmes and service redesign initiatives.
- Managing staff performance, engagement, wellbeing, and development through visible and values-led leadership.
- Responding to complaints, incidents, and operational challenges in a proactive and solution-focused manner.
- Deputising for the Senior Operations Manager as required.
