We're seeking an exceptional Director of Estates & Facilities to lead the development and delivery of an ambitious estates, infrastructure and capital agenda that will support healthcare transformation for years to come.

Reporting to the Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our estate is more than a collection of buildings. It will be a strategic enabler of better patient care, workforce wellbeing, innovation and organisational performance.

### Main duties of the job

- As a key system leader, you will work collaboratively with partners across health, care and the wider public sector to maximise the value and utilisation of our collective public estate, supporting better outcomes for the communities we serve.
- We're looking for a strategic and collaborative leader with a proven track record of delivering large-scale capital programmes, leading complex services and building strong partnerships.
- You will be able to translate organisational ambition into practical, long-term investment that creates modern, sustainable environments where healthcare can thrive.
- With responsibility for a substantial capital investment programme, you'll lead the delivery of our Estates Strategy, major redevelopment projects, sustainability ambitions and facilities services across a complex and evolving organisation.
- You'll also provide inspiring leadership to our estates and facilities workforce, developing talent, building capability and creating a high-performing culture equipped to meet the challenges of a modern NHS.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant experience of leading large, diverse Estates and Facilities services within a complex healthcare, public sector or similarly regulated environment
- Experience of developing and implementing organisation-wide Estates and Facilities strategies.
- Experience of operating successfully at Board, Executive Team or equivalent senior level.
- Experience of managing complex property, land, lease, disposal, estate rationalisation or utilisation matters within a large organisation.

**Desirable**

- Experience of commercial partnerships and business development opportunities.

### QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

**Essential**

- Master's qualification and current professional registration e.g. CIOB, MRICS, CIBSE, IHEEM, Chartered Engineer or equivalent relevant to the post.
- Professional knowledge acquired through extensive senior leadership experience in Estates and Facilities Management, capital planning and delivery, organisational transformation, governance, workforce and financial management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NHS Estates and Facilities related legislation, standards and guidance including HTMs, HBNs, PAM, PLACE and CQC requirements.

**Desirable**

- MBA or equivalent postgraduate management qualification.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Health and Safety qualification.

### SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

**Essential**

- Well-developed communication and influencing skills with the ability to motivate teams and secure consensus across multiple professional groups and organisations.
- Highly developed strategic leadership skills with the ability to translate organisational objectives into deliverable operational strategies
- Advanced knowledge of national NHS policy, strategy and Estates and Facilities requirements
- Extensive technical knowledge of estates engineering, infrastructure compliance, facilities management and asset management principles

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of sustainability, carbon reduction and Net Zero programmes.
