We're seeking a highly skilled Digital Systems Manager to join our management team. You will oversee the design, optimisation, and development of our Epic Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system and other digital solutions. This pivotal role will see you leading a team of dedicated digital system analysts and specialists to ensure our digital systems meet the dynamic needs of clinicians, administrators, and patients.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual with a keen interest & experience in digital healthcare and problem solving. Equally as important to these skills will be your understanding of clinical and administration workflows and processes within an acute Trust.

This is a wide-ranging, key strategic role that draws on project management skills, collaboration, stakeholder management and EPR/digital systems knowledge.

### Main duties of the job

The Digital Systems Manager leads a team of analysts to support, design and optimise the Trust’s Epic Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and associated systems.

The post holder provides expert advice on system design, clinical and administrative workflows, NHS data standards and reporting requirements. They ensure systems are safe, integrated, reliable and aligned with operational needs and national standards.

Working with clinical, operational and digital colleagues, the role delivers system enhancements, upgrades, user support and measurable service improvements. The post holder maintains design integrity, manages delegated resources and develops a high-performing team focused on patient safety, innovation and continuous improvement.

Role dimensions

Leadership and line management of EPR analysts and specialists.

Accountability for EPR configuration, design integrity, optimisation and associated systems.

Compliance with NHS data, reporting, information governance and patient safety standards.

Management of delegated budgets, resources and delivery priorities.

This vacancy will close at midnight on 18th October 2026.

Interviews are due to be held on 5th November 2026.

All appointments with a start date on or after 1 October 2026 will be subject to a 12-week probationary period. This provides a structured and supportive period to help you settle into your role, with regular reviews and feedback.

Right to Work

As there is a 12-week probationary period, successful candidates are expected to have the Right to Work for a period of at least 6 months from the proposed start date. Immigration and Right to Work status will be discussed with successful candidates at conditional offer. CUH will not offer sponsorship to candidates that have applied for a fee waiver.

Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full-time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a student visa. Therefore, please be advised that if you are a student visa holder, we will not be able to offer you a full-time permanent contract unless you have:

- or you will have successfully completed your course and have applied for a Graduate visa before the anticipated start date of your employment

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- - Understanding of NHS policy, standards, governance requirements and regulatory frameworks relevant to digital services.
- - Understanding of digital systems and EPR environments and how they support clinical and operational services Knowledge of NHS clinical, professional, and operational standards.
- - Knowledge of the Epic EPR system

**Desirable**

- - Awareness of NHS cost improvement plans and how EPR systems can support these through optimisation.

### Experience

**Essential**

- - Extensive experience working in a healthcare informatics environment, specifically with Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems like Epic.
- - Proven track record of leading system design, optimisation, and implementation in a clinical or operational healthcare setting.
- - Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, including direct line management of analysts and senior analysts.
- - Experience in the development, design and use of an enterprise wide EPR.
- - Proven experience of leading digital programmes or system optimisation delivering measurable benefits.

**Desirable**

- - Experience collaborating with NHS England, ICSs, and other national bodies to implement system changes aligned with policy requirements.
- - Experience of budget management, resource allocation, and justifying system upgrades or training investments.
- - Experience of working with very senior managers, clinicians and board members.
- - Previous NHS experience

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline (e.g., IT, Health Informatics, Data Science, or related field).
- Certified in Epic / EPR application management, with current certification and revalidation through mandatory annual training and exams.

**Desirable**

- Evidence of formal project management training, e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent.
