### Job overview

The post holder will be expected to support their team, department and organisation to achieve the Trust’s objectives and demonstrate the trust values in their day-to-day work. The post holder will deliver the highest level of network technical support to new and existing customers in person, remotely and over the phone.

### Main duties of the job

·Work as a member of the Network support team to ensure all support tickets, incidents, service requests and changes are executed in accordance with GMMH Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and change management processes.

- Support the Network Team in the day-to-day management of GMMH networks, which includes wired and wireless networks, SDWAN, Firewalls.
- Input into the daily, weekly and monthly network support checklists.
- Provide a structured approach to diagnosing, assimilating and interpreting operational objectives, risks, and issues.
- To fix diagnosed faults where feasible or to recommend appropriate solutions acknowledging and describing the implications for the end customer and for the internal IT teams.
- Investigate, diagnose, test and resolve faults/problems from internal/external stakeholders to a conclusion.
- Organise platform enhancements/upgrades
- Supervise cabling contractors and 3rd party suppliers/vendors when working on Trust sites. ·Good customer facing skills are essential.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge in network architecture, network operating systems and Firewalls.
- Knowledge of network switching and routing.
- Knowledge of WAN and VPN technologies
- Knowledge of IP Addressing and subnetting

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of network monitoring tools
- Knowledge of firewall administration
- Knowledge of wireless LAN administration
- Comms Rooms – cabling types and standards including resiliency considerations.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experienced in Network design, implementation, maintenance and management
- Experience of fault diagnosis and rectification in complex environments
- Experience of working in a 3rd Line IT support role.

**Desirable**

- Firewall management
- Supporting servers
- Wireless administration and design
- Previous NHS Experience

### Other Requirements

**Essential**

- Willingness to work flexible hours and to participate in a flexi-time system.
- Participate in the IM&T call rota.
- Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner whilst transporting network equipment.

**Desirable**

- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
- Flexibility within working hours/days

### Skills and Abilities

**Essential**

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and able to communicate effectively at all levels
- To analyse, interpret and resolve highly complex IM&T problems and introduce processes to avoid future re-occurrence.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and customer care skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

**Desirable**

- Experience managing small technical projects.
- Ability to analyse complex facts and situations and provide a range of options to senior management.
- The ability to use required IT tools and diagnostic equipment in safe and appropriate manner.
- Production of technical documentation

### Education / Qualifications

**Essential**

- Educated to degree level in a computer/engineering/technical discipline or an equivalent level of knowledge and expertise.

**Desirable**

- Higher education qualification in an IT related subject.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or other networking qualification
- ITIL Foundation Certificate
- Relevant training in server technologies
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
