## Job Content

### Job overview

Would you like to work alongside and support 80+ Dietitians working in general and specialist areas and Wards across CUH for both inpatients and outpatients?

The Dietetic Assistant (DA) role involves work with the neurology and home enteral feeding dietetic team - a combination face to face adult patient reviews on a variety of wards, as well as admin tasks supporting the registration and monitoring on home enteral feeding, preparing GP presciptions and patient phone calls as part of your essential support to the Dietitians within the department. This post is a mix of clinical administration processes alongside face-to-face and virtual contact with patients. You will work under the direction and support of a range of Dietitians (Bands 5 – 8a) across a wide range of patient conditions.

The position is required to be on-site to assist the Dietitians with the changing demands of their acute caseloads and for supervision. To support the Registered Dietitians in the provision of optimal nutrition to patients in CUH.

We are working towards and supporting Dietetic Apprenticeships within the Department; working as a DA would be a pre-requisite to the Apprenticeship Scheme (if successful).

To liaise with Dietitians, Nurses, catering and housekeeping staff with regard to the provision of optimal food service delivery at Ward level.

To support the Dietitians in the delivery of Ward based training and in raising awareness of the importance of good nutrition amongst Ward staff.

To support the dietitians in a range of administrative duties relating to patient care and service delivery in patients in the community who are on home enteral feeding.

Follow up patients identified by the Dietitian in either Outpatient or Inpatient setting and review both their oral intake and compliance with supplements as indicated by the Dietetic Assistant referral form.

Help with the administration of Outpatient Gastroenterology Clinics to rebook patients for follow up appointments (where appropriate) and help with reduction of patients who DNA (did not attend).
