Dietetic Assistant (Band 3) - Upper GI - Liverpool University Hospitals Group - Royal Liverpool Hospital

Fixed term (6 months) - 22.5 hours per week

An opportunity has arisen to join the Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) dietetic team, which is part of a wider Dietetic Department, at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital to provide essential clinical and clerical supporting roles to the team. This post will support the Upper GI dietetic service for patients living with inoperable and operable UGI Cancer.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who enjoy working as part of a team, eager to learn and engage with all aspects of patient care. The successful applicants will have the opportunity to work alongside specialist dietitians in helping to facilitate nutrition care for both inpatients and outpatients.

### Main duties of the job

Your role within the team will include ordering nutritional supplement samples, dealing with phone calls, liaising with community health care professionals and other hospitals e.g. Clatterbridge Center for Oncology.

You will be required to register patients for home delivery on enteral feeds and send all relevant paperwork as instructed by the Dietitian.

You will be required to prepare multiple clinics to ensure the Dietitian has up to date and accurate information to hand when reviewing patients.

You will be contributing to arthrometric measurements and data collecting as part of the UGI Dietetic team.

As part of these positions, you will also support the administration team with appropriate tasks relating to patient's nutritional care. You will be expected to have basic IT, internet and keyboard skills, be able to communicate well and have experience of working with people.

To work under supervision of qualified dietitians to assist in provision of dietetic service to in-patients and outpatients.

Main tasks will involve gathering information from patients and ward staff and providing general administrative support to the service.

Clinical Duties include

- Assist in monitoring of the nutritional care of patients by collecting specified information such as weights, heights, BMI’s, blood levels and intake information.
- Liaise with Dietitians on a daily basis, feeding back any variances to care plans.
- Ensure all patients receive their prescribed supplements and food snacks and encourage and assist patients to take them.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- GCSE or equivalent in English
- Minimum 1 A-level or NVQ level III. equivalent

**Desirable**

- Educational background to include nutrition and 1 science subject.
- EDLC course
