Both posts are band 7, aimed at medical physicists who have finished or are about to complete the NHS STP training scheme or equivalent and therefore have some working experience in quality assurance and radiation safety in a clinical environment. This role provides support to senior physicists including those certificated as RPAs and MPEs, whilst building on the experience gained through training. The successful applicants will work in a helpful, friendly and dynamic team, delivering scientific advice and technical support in diagnostic radiology and radiation safety. The position offers excellent opportunities for learning and developing skills and will broaden your knowledge and understanding across all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Safety. Candidates with less experience, holding a BSc in Physics and/or MSc in Medical Physics, who are interested in a career in Medical Physics are encouraged to apply as training and support will be available (subject to an amended job description and salary band 5/6 Annex U). We provide a broad range of clinical service support, teaching and research in all imaging related healthcare disciplines – radiology (diagnostic, screening, interventional), breast and cardiology. ### Main duties of the job - Contribute to the development and delivery of day-to-day management of the Quality Assurance programme for x-ray equipment within the Trust and Service Level Agreement customers. - Providing routine quality assurance, performance assessment, auditing in support of x-ray equipment. This involves high precision, complex measurements and safe use of radiation. - Acceptance testing of new radiological physics installations across the Trust and for Service Level Agreement customers. - Day to day troubleshooting of x-ray equipment across the Trust and for Service Level Agreement customers. - Contribute to the development, use and maintenance of software applications support in support of the clinical use and Quality Assurance of imaging equipment - Provide day-to-day supervision of trainee Clinical Scientists - Teach specialised information to large groups (\>20 people) within the Trust and on external courses. - Participate in and support research and development within Radiological Physics, RSU and Imaging - Take part in clinical audits - Present their scientific findings at conferences; the impact of this could be national / international. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities The full job description provides an overview of the key tasks and responsibilities of the role and the person specification outlines the qualifications, skills, experience and knowledge required.
