### Job overview

This post is suitable for a band 6 dietitian with experience in diabetes. We will also consider an experienced band 5 dietitian, who would like to progress to a band 6 diabetes dietitian. Training will be provided and on completion of competencies the post holder will progress to a band 6 position. This is expected to take 6-12 months dependent upon previous experience.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a diabetes dietitian to join the dietetic team at Hereford County Hospital. The dietetic team comprises of 16 dietitians and 4 dietetic assistants.

### Main duties of the job

The diabetes dietitians work closely with the wider diabetes MDT to provide 1:1 and group education/ promote self-management to patients with all types of diabetes across Herefordshire. Specialist services include antenatal service, insulin pump clinics and young adult clinics.

Post-registration experience in diabetes is desirable for this post however training can be provided. You will be supported in your role by the Band 7 diabetes dietitians.

The successful candidate will have a caseload of face to face outpatient clinics, virtual outpatient clinics, MDTs and structured education groups for all types of diabetes.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- experience of working with patients with diabetes
- Experience of working with patients using insulin pumps and new technologies
- experience of MDT working

### Education & Qualifications

**Essential**

- BSc / MSc / PGDip in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Current HCPC registration

**Desirable**

- BDA member
- Post qualification training in diabetes
- Basic Clinical Supervisory Skills training

### Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

**Essential**

- Excellent knowledge of Diabetes and its treatments
- Communication , motivation and negotiation skills
- able to plan and prioritise own worload
- good presentation and teaching skills
