An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated registered nurse to join the Dermatology Service as a Band 7 Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) based at City Health Campus, Sheldon Block.

This is a key role within the skin cancer service, providing expert clinical care and acting as a Key Worker for patients across the cancer pathway. The post holder will manage a specialist caseload, delivering advanced clinical assessment, coordinating care, and supporting patients from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up.

The role also contributes to service development, education and quality improvement, ensuring care is delivered in line with national cancer standards and best practice.

### Main duties of the job

Manage a specialist caseload of patients with skin cancer, delivering advanced assessment and clinical decision-making.

Act as a Key Worker, ensuring continuity, coordination and personalised care throughout the patient pathway.

Provide expert advice on symptom management, treatment pathways and patient supportSupport timely progression through the cancer pathway, working closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT)Contribute to MDT preparation, coordination and follow-up of agreed care plansDeliver nurse-led clinics and support outpatient activity where appropriate.

Provide education, support and advice to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.

Contribute to staff development through teaching and clinical supportParticipate in audit, research and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service deliverySupport the development and implementation of evidence-based practice within dermatology and cancer care.

Provide leadership and support to junior staff, including supervision where required.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical leadership, advanced communication skills and the ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant post registration experience
- Demonstratable experience within a dermatology or skin cancer setting, including management of patients with suspected or confirmed skin malignancy
- Experience of autonomously managing patients with complex, clinical needs requiring advanced assessment and decision making
- Able to demonstrate evidence of counselling skills
- Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality patient care
- Knowledge and understanding of nursing clinical audit
- Able to set and monitor standards
- Clear understanding of the Clinical Nurse Specialist role
- An understanding of the issues surrounding nurse’s role expansion
- Evidence of supporting others within the clinical environment
- Substantial experience in a nursing leadership role
- Experience and evidence in implementing change

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- NMC Registered Nurse
- Degree level study relevant to the specialist area
- Recognised teaching and assessing qualification or vast relevant experience

**Desirable**

- Leadership Course
- Advanced Communication Course
