We have multiple vacancies for permanent posts for Deputy Team Leader / Senior Recovery Practitioner in the WestWing Operating Theatre Department.   The WW theatre complex is a 14 theatre unit and 5 satellite areas; where elective and emergency surgery takes place. Specialities include Neurosurgery, Maxillofacial, ENT, Ophthalmology, Plastics, General Paediatrics, Paediatric Orthopaedics, and Craniofacial surgery.  You are expected to provide care to Adults, Children and Neonates.

If you are ready for a challenging and very satisfying role where you can contribute to service provision and make a difference for patients and staff.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a Technical interview.

Candidates are encouraged to attend for an informal visit

### Main duties of the job

- We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated staff to join the amazing senior WW Recovery team. Applicants will be expected to have at least 3 years of extensive experience in Recovery or Critical Care and have completed an equivalent practice supervisor/assessor course.   Applicants must have excellent communication, informed negotiating, and effective leadership skills to thrive in a busy team environment. You will be encouraged and supported to further develop using the learning opportunities available. There is a structured orientation programme and appraisal system in place to support your development whilst being supported by your team leader and education team. The directorate has a comprehensive Education Strategy to underpin the development of all grades of staff within theatres, to facilitate career development and progression.

To act as the patient’s advocate during the perioperative period of care

To be responsible for anticipating and providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team

To participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care

Follow Codes of Professional Practice providing high quality and safe care to patients undergoing procedures within the Perioperative environment

Work effectively within a team

- Articulate and knowledgeable of skills needed to deliver a high standard of care in the area of practice.
- Able to work under own initiative within boundaries of role
- Demonstrates awareness of importance of working as part of a team.
- Able to document observations, results, decisions and actions etc. effectively in patient’s notes and communicate these effectively to appropriate members of the multi-disciplinary team.

### Education/training/quals

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse (Part 1. 8. 12 or 15 of register depending on area of practice), ODP HCPC registration or National certification in area of Practice.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an ongoing NMC/HCPC revalidation
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Recovery/ or Critical Care
- Evidence of achievement of a NMC or HCPC approved Mentorship qualification.

**Desirable**

- UK recognised Degree in Nursing relevant to post or equivalent qualification for ODPs
- Post-graduate qualification related to an area of practice
