The Deputy Support Manager will provide day-to-day operational leadership and supervision of the Radiology Imaging Assistant workforce, ensuring the delivery of a safe, efficient and patient-focused service across the Radiology Department.

Working closely with the Support Team Leader and wider Radiology management team, the post holder will support staff deployment, rota management, attendance monitoring, workforce development and service delivery. The role is pivotal in maintaining service continuity, responding to changing operational demands and ensuring the Imaging Assistant workforce is effectively coordinated to support patient care.

The post holder will deputise for the Support Team Leader when required, supporting recruitment, appraisal, performance management and quality improvement activities, while promoting a positive culture that reflects Trust values and delivers the highest standards of patient experience.

### Main duties of the job

Support the day-to-day supervision and management of the Radiology Imaging Assistant workforce.

Manage and monitor staff rotas, annual leave and workforce deployment to ensure safe and effective service delivery.

Monitor attendance and manage sickness absence in accordance with Trust policies, including Return to Work processes and Occupational Health referrals where required.

Support recruitment, induction, training, competency assessment and ongoing development of Imaging Assistants.

Undertake staff appraisals and support the management of performance, conduct and wellbeing.

Maintain accurate and confidential staff records and departmental databases.

Promote a positive team culture that supports staff engagement, quality improvement and service excellence.

Work collaboratively with Radiology leaders and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure consistency of practice and service delivery.

Participate in audit, governance and service improvement activities to enhance patient experience and operational performance.

Deputise for the Support Team Leader as required and escalate risks or operational concerns appropriately.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Deputy Support Manager is responsible for supporting the operational management of the Radiology Imaging Assistant workforce and ensuring the effective delivery of support services across the Radiology Department.

The post holder will oversee the day-to-day organisation and deployment of Imaging Assistants, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, skill mix and service cover are maintained to meet operational demands. They will support the management of staff rotas, annual leave and short-notice absences, responding proactively to service pressures and changing priorities.

The Deputy Support Manager will provide supervision, guidance and leadership to Imaging Assistants, supporting recruitment and selection activities, local induction programmes, competency assessments, appraisals and staff development. They will contribute to the management of attendance, conduct, capability, disciplinary and grievance matters in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

The role includes monitoring sickness absence, conducting Return to Work meetings, supporting staff wellbeing initiatives and facilitating Occupational Health referrals where appropriate. The post holder will maintain accurate personnel records and ensure compliance with information governance, confidentiality and record-keeping requirements.

Working collaboratively with Radiology managers and colleagues, the post holder will promote a positive and inclusive working environment, support quality improvement initiatives, participate in audit and governance activities, and contribute to maintaining a safe and effective environment for patients, visitors and staff.

In the absence of the Support Team Leader, the post holder will deputise as required, ensuring continuity of service delivery and escalating significant operational, staffing or governance concerns to the Head of Operational Radiology.

### Applicant requirements

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
