An exciting  opportunity has become available within the Breast Imaging Department at St Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The Deputy Superintendent role assists in managing on an operational level the radiographic activity of the South West London Breast Screening Service (SWLBSS), including 5 static screening sites across SW London, and the symptomatic breast imaging service at St George's Hospital.  This is a great opportunity for a qualified mammographer to take a step into operational management and expand their knowledge and skill set.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated radiographers with an interest and a UK recognised  qualification in mammography to join our hard working and friendly team in this busy Breast Imaging Unit. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as is the ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment. You must be comfortable working under pressure, ‘multi-tasking’ and liaising with multi-disciplinary teams.

The strongest resource we have is the team, who are enthusiastic, friendly and highly skilled and comprise Radiographers, Associate and Assistant Practitioners, Consultant Radiologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Advanced and Consultant Practitioners. This is underpinned by a commitment to continuing professional development for all staff and actively encourages involvement in training and audit.

This post includes involvement in breast screening clinics at St Georges Hospital and the satellite screening sites around South West London along with participation in Assessment and Symptomatic clinics. It is therefore essential that you are able to travel to any of these sites and are resident within reasonable travelling time of both St. George’s Hospital and our remote site locations.  You must hold a UK recognised Post Graduate Certificate in Mammography. We are housed in a purpose built facility, providing a light, modern environment from which to deliver a fully digital service.  Due to the nature of the work this post is open to female applicants only. This provision applies under the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 section 7(2) (d).

- Experience in staff management
- Experience in training of less experienced radiographers, students and departmental staff
- Experience working as a senior member of multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with clinical audit

- Working experience of digital imaging modalities and PACs
- Experience of presentation skills to groups of staff & multi disciplinary teams
- Experience in recruitment and selection of staff & in conducting staff appraisals

### Qualification and Training

**Essential**

- BSc(Hons) Radiography or equivalent
- Current HPC registration
- MSc level qualification in mammography Postgraduate Masters qualification Health Management or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years radiographic experience & 3 years in mammography
- Evidence of CPD
- Knowledge of Society of Radiographers professional code of conduct and risk assessments

**Desirable**

- Post graduate qualification e.g. image interpretation, clinical teaching, research
- Post graduate qualification in IV cannulation
