We are seeking an experienced and motivated Diagnostic Radiographer with a strong interest in Plain Film Imaging and experience in service leadership to join our team as Deputy Superintendent.

This role is ideal for a skilled radiographer who enjoys balancing hands-on clinical practice with managerial and leadership responsibilities. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality, patient-focused Plain Film service.

You will join the Radiology leadership team at an exciting time of growth and development and will contribute to the continued expansion of Plain Film services across RWT. Working closely with the Plain Film Superintendents, you will provide both clinical expertise and day-to-day operational support, including staff supervision, service coordination, and quality improvement initiatives.

Applicants must hold a Degree (or equivalent) in Diagnostic Radiography and be registered with the HCPC. Recent NHS experience is essential.

Interviews will be conducted face to face.

### Main duties of the job

This position will support the Superintendent Radiographer in the operational, clinical and managerial leadership of the Plain Film service. The post holder will help ensure the delivery of a safe, effective, and high‑quality service, maintaining professional, technical and patient‑centred standards.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the day‑to‑day operation of Plain Film imaging, supervising staff, contributing to rota planning, and supporting service development initiatives. The post holder will deputise for the Superintendent as required and undertake defined line management responsibilities, including recruitment, induction, appraisal and sickness management.

The role includes responsibility for supporting quality assurance, clinical governance, risk management, trust policies, and local rules. The post holder will assist with protocol development, equipment management, fault reporting, audit activity, and performance monitoring, ensuring high standards of safety, image quality, and efficiency.

Clinically, the post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner, participate in referral vetting, and act as a professional role model, promoting excellent patient care and communication. They will support training and mentorship of radiographers, apprentices and students, contributing to workforce development and staff retention.

The post holder will work flexibly across a 5‑day service, including weekends, bank holidays and on‑call duties as required.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant post qualification experience in a busy Plain Film department
- Applicant can demonstrate experience in management responsibilities e.g, appraisals, rostering, disciplinary and capability management

### Communication

**Essential**

- Evidence of effective, high level communication with patients, multidisciplinary teams and senior colleagues
- Evidence of managing challenging situations or difficult conversations appropriately

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Degree (BSc Hons or equivalent) in Diagnostic Radiography

**Desirable**

- Applicant has undertaken a recognised leadership course relevant to the role
