You will be able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skills including being proficient in extended clinical roles expected in the care of the acute patient.  As the Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse it is expected you can make justified decisions in the absence of the Sister, and partake in holding the medical bleep, including bed meetings and safe staffing. You will need to be able to work well under pressure and build strong and effective communication links with the Clinical Site Team, Emergency Department, Management and the Multi-Disciplinary Teams, including the management and escalation of the “Stranded Patient”. You will organise and be responsible for staff appraisal, training, support and development for staff on the ward.
