Take a lead for a specific area of professional practice as delegated by the Lead and deputise in their absence. To provide a high standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care as required within the Emergency Department. To utilise a variety of strategies and communicate effectively with patients and their family/carers. We receive a wide variety of Emergency patients, including Trauma, Medical/Surgical Admissions, Gynaecology, Maternity and Paediatrics. We have a dedicated Stroke service with specialised training and development available.  We have a developing Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) run by our  Emergency Nurse Practitioner/General Practitioners/ACP team who work closely with staff to develop and enhance their knowledge and skills in minor injury/illness management and treatment. We recognise that Mental Health is a challenge within ED and have a dedicated Mental Health Liaison team that work closely with ED and would welcome staff with experience of mental health or a dual trained qualification. We have also moved our paediatric department to another area within ED and are currently developing this area so it is a safe and secure environment to see and treat our paediatric patients. We are a supportive and encouraging department with close links to Brighton University and are supported by our dedicated Practice Development Nurse.
