Band 5 Deputy Patient Pathway Manager (CAT Team 2 - Ophthalmology)

(Will involve cross-site working at Prince Charles Eye Unit in Windsor and Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading)

The Deputy Patient Pathway Manager (DPPM) will provide support and expert knowledge to the team of Patient Pathway Coordinators (PPC), other members of the CAT and reception teams.

The DPPM has delegated responsibilities for a range of operational activities working autonomously using initiative and their specialist knowledge and experience of the service to make decisions.

Assist with the delivery of the daily operational business of the designated service area as well as contributing to the development and implementation of strategic plans.

Assist with the overseeing of all administrative and clerical processes to enable a high quality, effective, patient-focused service to be delivered.

Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are followed, to help ensure the achievement of all performance targets.

Responsible for providing regular updates on performance and the escalation of issues which hinder the delivery of a smooth patient pathway to the SM and/or DM.

### Main duties of the job

- Be prepared to assist with the line management of Patient Pathway Coordinators and other administrative staff within the admin team. 2. Assist with the management of annual leave, flexitime and sickness recording. 3. Record staff information on Optimize if required. 4. With support from the PPM implement Trust systems for managing individual performance and for resolving poor performance. 5. Assist with the continuing personal and professional development of staff and undertake yearly appraisals and PDP’s as required by the PPM. 6. Working with the PPM assist with the recruitment of staff with the appropriate skills to support the needs of the admin team. 7. Be aware of the training needs, including business systems, of staff in order to be able to provide a patient focused service, as well as mandatory training. 8. To develop, deliver and monitor training and awareness sessions for administrative staff within the admin team Pathway Supervision.
