At the Royal United Hospitals Bath (RUH), we are looking for a Deputy Lead Quality Assurance Technician to join our exceptional pharmacy service.

About the role This is an exciting opportunity to help lead and shape quality assurance across Aseptics and Radiopharmacy. Working closely with the QA Lead, you will support and maintain the Quality Management System, provide expert guidance on GMP compliance, lead audits and risk management activity, manage deviations and CAPA, and drive continuous improvement. You will also support staff training and deputise when required.

About you You are a registered pharmacist, pharmacy technician, or similar professional with significant aseptic/QA experience, strong GMP knowledge, and excellent communication skills. You are motivated, collaborative, and committed to quality and patient safety.

### Main duties of the job

- Contribute to the development and maintenance all aspects of Quality Assurance (QA), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Quality Control (QC) within the aseptic services unit ensuring that regulatory standards are met.
- Assist the Lead Quality Assurance Technician in improving processes and implementing change.
- Deputise for the Lead Quality Assurance Technician in their absence undertaking all managerial responsibilities associated with the role.
- Facilitate and conduct the microbial and physical environmental monitoring and quality control programmes within the aseptics unit.
- Undertake internal audits as outlined in the internal audit programme ensuring that all key audit outcomes are reported to the lead quality assurance technician.
- Assist and participate in external audits of the aseptic unit.
- Collate the reporting of errors within the aseptic services unit.
- Conduct risk assessments on unit processes and procedures highlighting all key areas of risk as part of quality risk management.
- Act as an authorised product approver within the aseptics unit undertaking final check and approval of cytotoxics, monoclonal antibodies, parenteral nutrition and radiopharmaceuticals.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Significant experience of working in an aseptic or production environment
- Knowledge and experience of Good Manufacturing Practice, aseptic dispensing and the principles of Quality Assurance
- Knowledge and experience in error reporting
- Knowledge and experience in environmental monitoring and Quality Control
- Experience in developing and implementing SOPs
- Proven ability to manage own workload and the workload of others, delegating supervision activities as appropriate

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in a NHS or commercial licensed unit.
- Experience of working in a Radiopharmacy unit
- Experience of service development.
- Knowledge and experience in Quality management systems
- Knowledge of change management.
- Experience of data fact analysis and trend reporting and ability to put recommendations in place as a result of this.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a practicing Pharmacy Technician
- NVQ3 and BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent
- Accredited Product Approver or willing to work towards acquiring the accreditation
- Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance – or prepared to undertake study for this qualification
- Training in aseptic services and aseptic dispensing
