As part of Estates and Facilities you will sit with the Operational Estates part of the team, but with links to capital and risk and compliance. You will be part of a dynamic, forward thinking team with an appetite to improve and influence the services we provide in support of delivering exceptional patient experience.

### Main duties of the job

We are seeking a highly motivated and expert estates specialist to join our Estates and Facilities Team to act as the Responsible Person for Water Safety and as a Estates Liaison on capital schemes for estates matters. In this role youll act as the key liaison on estates matters between our Operational Estates Teams and our Capital Team colleagues. As the key liaison between our ongoing multi-million-pound capital redevelopment programmes and operational estates, you will ensure that all builds and refurbishments strictly integrate robust water safety infrastructure and overall estates compliance. Serving as the Trusts Responsible Person (Water Safety) / Authorised Person, you will provide expert technical advice, ensuring that all designs, installations, and commissioning activities comply with HTM 04-01 (Safe water in healthcare premises) and relevant Water Supply Regulations. You will act part of the Senior Team of Operational Estates and may could be expected to be part of an on call rota.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of relevant statutory legislation and local policies and codes of practice including Health and Safety and COSHH.
- Knowledge of safe working procedures and incident reporting requirements.
- Understanding of and awareness of the impact and risks of maintenance delivery in an acute hospital environment.
- Understanding of equality and diversity requirements, including ensuring that services meet the individual needs of patients and their families.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of the maintenance and repair of all building fabric, utilities and engineering services within a Trust.
- Experience of managing contracts, both internal and external, in addition to all levels of directly employed staff, to ensure the delivery of operational services.
- Experience of managing and complying with all statutory instruments and guidance ensuring best practice related to building fabric and engineering services.
- Experience of working in an acute hospital environment, including an understanding of and awareness of the impact and risks of maintenance delivery in an acute hospital environment.

### Other Requirements

**Essential**

- Capability of undertaking periods of physical activity, possibly in adverse and inclement weather conditions.
- Ability and willingness to undertake occasional working at heights and in confined spaces, for example scaffold or inside boilers.
- Ability and willingness to take part in an on-call rota as required.
- Ability to work across Trust properties as reasonably required by the Head of Estates, subject to appropriate negotiations.
- Ability to comply with relevant statutory legislation and local policies and codes of practice, including Health and Safety and COSHH.

### Skills and Abilities

**Essential**

- Ability to provide expert specialist and professional building and engineering expertise and advice to senior management of the Trust and external agencies.
- Ability to manage the duties of Authorised Persons throughout the Trust and carry out the duties and responsibilities of an Authorised Person for specific installations.
- Ability to liaise and instruct staff, patients and other parties on technical matters appertaining to the correct use of plant or equipment.
- Ability to complete all relevant daily documentation in compliance with relevant statutory legislation and local codes of practice and quality control procedures.
- Ability to work with colleagues to maintain and improve the quality of services provided to patients and other service users.

- Undertake all mandatory training required for the role.
