An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Finance Business Partner in the Finance Team at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This is a key role supporting the strategic and operational delivery of high‑quality, value‑for‑money services across the Trust. Working closely with operational managers and budget holders, the post holder will provide high‑quality financial advice, robust reporting, and insight to support effective decision‑making. You will take ownership of budgeting, forecasting and financial performance for designated services, contribute to business planning and service developments, and help drive efficiency and value improvement. The role also includes line management of an Assistant Management Accountant and close collaboration with clinical and corporate teams to support the Trust’s financial sustainability and strategic objectives.

Applicants who are fully CCAB qualified and able to demonstrate the full range of competencies required for the role will be appointed at Band 7. Candidates who are actively studying towards a professional accountancy qualification, or who do not yet demonstrate all of the required competencies, may be appointed at Band 6 within a structured development programme.

Progression from Band 6 to Band 7 will be subject to achievement of the agreed professional qualification and demonstration of the competencies required for the substantive Band 7 post.

### Main duties of the job

- Provide high‑quality financial management, reporting and advice to designated operational services, supporting effective decision‑making and delivery of the Trust’s financial objectives.
- Lead on budgeting, forecasting and monitoring of income and expenditure, analysing trends, risks and opportunities, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Work in partnership with budget holders, clinical teams and senior managers, building trusted relationships and supporting services to achieve value for money and efficiency improvements.
- Contribute to strategic and service planning, including the development of business cases, service developments and efficiency programmes, using robust financial analysis.
- Line manage an Assistant Management Accountant, supporting their development, and contribute to wider Finance team objectives while promoting sound financial governance and best practice.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Knowledge and experience of budgeting and forecasting, costing and financial reporting
- Financial management and accounting experience

- Experience of staff management

### Skills and Aptitude

- To communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff, both verbally and in writing, including the production of reports

### Education/Qualifications

**Essential**

- CCAB (Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies) qualified or part-qualified

- Significant experience working within a financial management environment
