JOB PURPOSE

- To act as the operational lead for the Trust’s Finance function, providing effective and professional leadership, and supporting the Executive Director of Finance in the formulation of Trust and departmental financial strategy.
- To provide financial advice and information on the income and expenditure, capital, cash, and other key financial metrics to the Director of Finance, Chief Executive, Board members, and Operational Divisions.
- To work as a key member of the Trust Leadership Team, taking responsibility for ensuring financial strategies remain consistent and aligned to Trust overall objectives and national policy.
- Responsible for the leadership and day-to-day operational management of the Finance department, including providing assurance around the processes and procedures in place across the department, overall financial governance across the hospital, promoting good financial control, and ensuring an effective Finance team.
- Provide leadership aligned to the Trust’s values and behaviours, and developing and maintaining the Finance department through the Future Focused Finance accreditation process. To be a Value Maker and Finance and Clinical Educator champion.
- Provide effective leadership on RAAC, New Hospital Programme and EPR.
- Deputise for the Executive Director of Finance as required.

- Support and inspire staff towards continuous improvement and the delivery of patient focused care.
- Work across the Place and ICS with colleagues to support a partnership approach that lends itself to collaborative working and supports the agenda of Act as One and working as an ICS partnership. Lead or support projects across Place or ICS as the need arises.
- To interpret overall health policy and strategy on an ongoing basis ensuring that the Trust’s financial and service plans are developed and executed in line with national and local guidance.

Financial modelling for New Hospital Programme including affordability

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of successfully working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- NHS / Foundation Trust experience. Application / Interview
- Substantial experience at Assistant Director of Finance level, gained in financial I operational management.
- Experience in financial reporting, analysis and forecasting.
- Experience of developing and writing service and business plans/cases at Trust level and across the health economy.
- Experience of performance planning and performance management.
- Budget management experience.

**Desirable**

- NHS / Foundation Trust experience.
- Experience of delivering continuous improvement across performance and financial management tools and systems in the NHS.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Education to Master’s Degree level or equivalent through experience, or working towards Masters level education in a relevant field.
- Recognised Professional Finance (CCAB) qualification.
- Evidence of continuing professional development for self and team.
