They will also support  the implementation and oversight of any additional antenatal screening programmes as determined by the National Screening Committee and national programme standard. They should ensure that they have a working knowledge of the  failsafe processes which prompt recognition and investigation of any missed screening opportunity. Working autonomously, the deputy specialist midwife will support the day-to-day provision of the antenatal screening services. They must be confident to discuss a large range of screening issues with women, their families, and the multi- professional team (MDT), which will inevitably include difficult and sensitive issues whist offering unbiased, impartial support and enabling informed decision making. Act as a resource for other healthcare staff in relation to all issues related to the antenatal  screening offering specialist advice. In addition the role includes: Support the coordination of the fetal medicine service and the screening  programme. To provide high quality evidence-based care to women with complex pregnancies or whose fetus has a confirmed or suspected abnormality.
